JBD Series Latching Relay

With Mechanical Locking Device

1. Brief

Oswell JBD Series Latching Relay is a very reliable big current switching unit with its patent design. It consists of a single phase switch (K), double coils(KA1,KA2) and mechanical locking device. K has 2 status, Kon and Koff. Instantaneous pulse will drive the K switching between Kon and Koff.
In operation, giving an instantaneous driving pulse to coil KA2, the main switch K will be locked to be Kon status very closely. If giving an instantaneous driving pulse to coil KA1, the relay will be unlocked quickly and the main switch K will be on Koff status.
Whether the contactor keep its status at the Kon or Koff, it doesn’t need any current to serve. so it doesn’t consume power energy.

6. Application notes

Working driving pulse voltage VDD is 18V-30V, but normally driving pulse voltage the higher the better.
Working driving pulse width is 60-150ms. When driving pulse voltage is high, driving pulse width could be a low value.
Kon and Koff switching will ask for an instantaneous power, super capacitor should be able to supply the needed driving current to the relay.
The switching transistor in driving circuit should meet the relay’s voltage and current demand, its rise time should be small as possible.
With above analysis, we suggest:
VDD=24V, Pulse width 80ms-120ms, Super capacitor: 680-1000uf/35-50V
Switching transistor: S8050, S8550, β≥200 Voltage>40V Ic>1000mA
